Moong dal curry



Wash and soak 1 cup of Moong dal for 15mins. Then Pressure cook the dal along with a small piece of ginger [1/2 inch long], 1/2 tsp turmeric powder and salt. Mash it well.

Heat [2tbs] of oil in a pan. Fry mustard seeds, curry leaves and chopped garlic pieces [2-3 pods]. I love fried garlic more. So I'm frying it. You can also cook it with dal.

Add chopped onion [1], slit green chilli [1] and cook till onion turns pink. Then add chopped tomato [1], Chilli powder [1tsp], coriander powder [1tsp]and little salt. Sauté till oil oozes out. Finally add mashed moong dal and water [approx one cup].

Cook for some time with care because the curry thickens quickly. Keep stirring.
Add ghee to it at the end [optional]

Follow the same recipe for whole moong dal. 
Difference: Soak whole moong dal for 5hours minimum and then pressure cook it.
