Mutton Gravy


TO CUT:

Slice onions [1 ½] and tomatoes [1]
Chop onion [1/2] and keep it aside

TO GRIND: 

Take oil [1 ½ tbs] in a pan. Fry sliced onions and tomatoes with little salt. Grind it to fine paste along with ginger [1inch piece] and garlic pods [6-7]

GRAVY:

Again take oil [2tbs] in the same pan. Fry *whole garam masala, slit green chillies [1] and chopped onions. Fry till it turns pink. At this point, add mutton pieces [1/2kg], turmeric powder [1tsp] and salt.  Fry for 2-3minutes till water from mutton separates. 

Then add chilli powder [1tsp], coriander powder [1tbs], garam masala [1tsp] and cumin powder [1/2tsp]. Cook in medium flame for 5minutes. Finally add the ground onion-tomato paste and little water [Less than a glass]. Pressure cook for 10minutes/4-5whistes.

After the mutton pieces are cooked, add pepper powder [1-2tsp : Depends on your taste] and fry for 2-3minutes. Finally garnish with cilantro leaves.

NOTE: Don’t add more water to the recipe. Let the mutton cook in oil. 

*Whole garam spices - Cloves [3], cinnamon stick [1] and fennel seeds [1tsp]
