Rajma Masala


Soak the kidney beans/Rajma [1/2cup] in 3cups of water for minimum 8hours - You will get more than a cup of beans. Pressure cook the beans adding little salt and 2cups of water for 5whistles.

Onion Paste: 
Grind onion [1 big one], ginger [1 inch piece] and garlic pods [5] to smooth paste.

Tomato Paste:
Grind Tomatoes [2 big ones] to fine paste.

Masala:
Heat oil [3tbs]
Saute cumin seeds [1tsp] for few seconds.
Add ground onion paste and slit green chillies [2 long ones] and fry till the paste turns color.
Add ground tomato paste, chilli powder [1/2tsp], coriander powder [1tbs], garam masala powder [1½ tsp] and salt. Cook for sometime till the raw smell goes off and oil leaves the side.
Then add the rajma beans [1cup] along with the stock. Add another cup of water. Adjust salt.
Simmer for about 10minutes till the curry thickens.

Garnish with cilantro leaves and a piece of butter.
Serve hot with Chapathi.
