Soak Bengal gram dal [1/2cup] for an hour.
Chop onions [1], green chillies [2], few cilantro and curry leaves.
Method to clean the Vazhapoo:
Separate the florets from the Poo.
Remove the stamen in the florets since that doesn't cook well.
To Grind:
Grind the vazhapoo florets to coarse paste. Squeeze to remove the extra water content. It will turn black - Don't worry about that. Keep it in a bowl.
Next job is to grind the soaked Bengal gram dal to coarse paste along with fennel seeds [1tsp]. Add this to the bowl.
Powder:
Powder roasted gram dal [1/4cup] and add it to the ground florets and gram dal.
Mix all the ingredients together - Florets paste, gram dal paste, roasted gram dal powder, chopped onions, green chillies, curry and cilantro leaves and add salt.
Make small vadas and Deep fry in the oil.
