Mutton Kuzhambhu (OR) Mutton curry



Chop onions [2] and tomatoes [1].
Soak poppy seeds [1/2tsp] for 15minutes. 
Cut Potatoes/Drumstick - [2] into pieces : This is optional. 

GRIND:

Ginger - Garlic paste: Grind ginger [one inch piece], garlic pods [5-6] and half of the chopped onions to fine paste. 

Coconut paste: Grind coconut pieces [2tbs] and poppy seeds [1/2tsp] to fine paste.

CURRY:

Heat oil [2tbs] in a pan. 
Add *whole garam spices and fry for a minute. 
Add remaining chopped onions and fry till it turns pink in color. Add ground ginger garlic paste and fry for 2 more minutes. Add mutton pieces [1/2kg] with salt, curd [2tbs] and turmeric powder [1/2tsp]. Fry till water from mutton separates. 
Then add chilli powder [1tsp], coriander powder [1.5tsp], garam masala [1/2tsp], cumin powder [1/4tsp], chopped tomatoes, cut potatoes/Drumstick and water [approx 2cups]. Adjust salt. Pressure cook for 15minutes [4-5whistles]

Keep the flame low and add the ground coconut paste. Simmer for 2-3minutes.

Garnish with cilantro leaves. 

*Whole garam spices: Cloves [4-5], cardamom [2] and fennel seeds [1tsp]
